Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Chemical Property:
Appearance: white or off-white powder, odorless, tasteless, non-toxic cellulose ethers
Particle size: the passage rate of 100 meshes is more than 98.5%;and of 80 meshes is 100%.
Bulk density: 0.25-0.70g/cm3.
Soluble in water and some organic solvents, such as appropriate proportion of ethanol, water, acetone, water, and trichloroethane etc. Solution has surfactant peculiarity. PH value does not affect solubility in water.

HPMC plays three roles in putty powder: thickening, water retention and construction.
Thickening: hpmc cellulose can be thickened to suspend, make the solution uniform up and down, anti-hanging.
Water retention: make putty powder dry slowly, and assist lime-calcium reaction under the action of water.
Construction: hpmc cellulose has lubricating effect, which can make putty powder have good workability.
Masonry mortar mainly plays the following roles:
1. Enhance adhesion and masonry surface, and can enhance water retention, improve mortar strength.
2. Improve lubricity and plasticity, improve processability, haoshuo production of cellulose ether reinforced mortar, easier to use, save time, improve cost effectiveness.
3. With special high water retention, suitable for super absorbent ceramic tile.
There are two major characteristics in the paint industry:
1. Used as thickener, dispersant and stabilizer in coating industry. Good compatibility with water or organic solvents.
2. Used as paint remover, dispersion paint, wall paint, polymerization agent
The putty powder is usually 10W, higher requirements in mortar , 15W-20W is good to use. Moreover, the most important role of HPMC is water retention, followed by thickening. In putty powder, as long as the water retention is good, the viscosity is low , it is also possible, of course, the viscosity is higher, the relative water retention is better.
