Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose (HPMC) is an important variety of nonionic cellulose mixed ether. It is odorless, tasteless and non-toxic. The finished product is white powder or loose fiber, and the particle size is passed through the 80-mesh sieve. It doesn't react with heavy metals. Different proportions of methoxy and hydroxypropyl content in the finished product, different viscosity, will become a variety of different properties. HPMC is actually a kind of epoxy methane oxygen c ring (methyl) modified methyl cellulose, so it has a similar methyl cellulose soluble in cold water can dissolve, can not soluble in hot water features, solubility in organic solvent is better than that of water soluble, it can soluble in anhydrous methanol and ethanol, can also dissolve in chlorinated hydrocarbons, such as methylene chloride, trichloroethane, acetone, isopropyl alcohol, diacetone alcohol and other organic solvents.

a.Water retention---improved water retention can protect cemet and plaster against poor solidification and cracking due to too speedy drying and inefficient mixing with water.

c.Binding---Due to the increased plasticizing quality , mortar can be a better binder.

d.Slipping-resistance---Due to the thickening action of Cellulose Ether, the slipping phenomena of mortar from substance to be bound can be prevented more efficiently.
